Who Am I?
My name is Martin Benes. I’m a graduate theologian and I help people to find happiness by discovering their own real self as well as God in interpreting their dreams. I function in the Czech Republic where I am described by this country’s media as a foremost expert in this field (see chapter called
What Was Written in the Media about Me and My Method of Telling Dreams?).
I was born on March 30, 1964 in Prague, the mystical heart of Europe and the capital Czech city that bears more than one thousand year tradition that comes to life on almost every step. This city of one hundred spires has left a deep impact on me, not only with respect to its historical monuments and artistic splendours, especially concerning the architecture of its churches, but also the magic of Prague’s ancient tales and legends (especially Golem, an artificial human being created by Rabbi Yehuda Loew based on a higher inspiration in a dream – and of wizard Faust who with a wish to know the entirety did not hesitate to sell his own soul to the devil – not to mention the alchemists who produced gold and an elixir of youth for the imperial court). A long time ago, the brilliant writer Franz Kafka used to stroll through Prague’s sinuous streets where he would give thought to his absurd literary works that are more like a dream than a daily reality. Later on, in his own personal style, Vaclav Havel, the first Czech President, who was also born in Prague continued Kafka’s works. "The Prague plan represents an archetypal cartography of the city plunged into a nightmare or a happy dream. Prague, the last one of its kind, must certainly be that dream of a European city instead of all the vanished ones" (The Amazing Advantures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon).
The Prague genius loci inspired me to become interested in things between Heaven and Earth and simplified my way to God. The Truth about God’s communication with people through dreams I paradoxically discovered when having been absent from the magical city of cities for several years. I obtained the gift from God to interpret dreams during my studies at the Theological Faculty of Charles University in the Northern Czech town of Litomerice (leaving certificate I got in the year 1991 at Palacky University in the town of Olomouc including a Master’s title).
In the year 1987, I was dreaming a consecrating dream on the not too distant Holy Hill known as Mount Radobyl, whose ancient legends speak of the crossing of underworld and heavenly powers. Having reached the peak of that hill, I fell asleep as I was resting. I was standing on a turning staircase that was winding its way somewhere into the depths. I started going down, but there was no end to the staircase. I thus turned upwards, but with the same result. I sat down helplessly on one of those steps whereas suddenly everything changed. I was flying with a sort of a bird of prey along with the wind right to the far away Palestinian town of Nabulus. There, in a desert well, I got hold of a diamond with my name inscribed on the surface. Later on, I discovered that in Nabulus, which at that time was still called Sichem, the Old Testament Patriarch Joseph was buried, the one who became famous for interpreting dreams to the Egyptian Pharaoh. It came to me that dream interpreting was also the road I should take.
I have developed this God’s gift by studying the Bible, cabala as well as ancient Greek philosophers and old-time Christian theologians. I have also acquired certain experience through a ten-year course of psychoanalysis as well as doing research on the way
ancient civilizations used to treat people with the help of dreams (see chapter entitled
How Health Was Treated With Help of Dreams
).
For a number of years I have been explaining dreams to individuals in person, in my Prague Somnium studio, as well as through correspondence. Meanwhile, my works have been published in regular columns in several Czech publications: At present they are to be found in the magazine Medunka. Previously, these were the internet Czech Press published by the Czech Press Agency ÈTK, the largest Czech press agency that is, the magazines Regenerace, Astro, Magazin 2000, Regina and the internet Prague Press.
I’ve been invited to speak on various specialized TV programs on different occasions as well as to lecture at various congresses.
On August 6, 2005 I was ordained in the Czech town of Svitavy by Catholic Bishop Emanuel Korab as a Catholic priest of the Byzantine-Slavonic rite.
